On May 31, 400 orphans from 11 children's homes in Harare and surrounding areas were treated to a day of feasting and fun at a party hosted by the Zimbabwe Chinese Business Association at Long Cheng Plaza. The less privileged children, most of whom were at the Amusement Park for the first time in their lives, could not hide their excitement.
Chinese Ambassador's wife Madame Liao Yuancui and members of the Embassy's Women's Group attended the party, brought gifts including stationary, books and soccer balls to each orphanage, and served as volunteers during the party.
In her remark, Madame Liao spoke highly of the organizers' acts of love and encouraged the children to keep a hopeful mind in their lives. She said that the children are the future and they should be nurtured in the right way.
The event which was organized by the Zimbabwe Chinese Business Association is a first of its kind and the organizers pledged to uplift the lives of orphans and vulnerable children.
On May 30, Chinese Ambassador's wife Madame Liao Yuancui and members of the Embassy's Women's Group visited the M&Ms Dance Studio in Harare. They watched the performances by the children, and brought Children's Day gifts.
A group of 26 children from the dance studio performed at the "China Ballet Night" at Celebration Centre on May 12, together with a top ballet troupe from China, and won the hearts of the whole audience.
Madame Liao expressed sincere gratitude for the wonderful performance of the dancers and congratulated the teachers and parents for their success. She said that more such cultural exchange was welcome for further promoting the traditional friendship that exists between our two peoples.
