Recently, the Chinese Embassy implemented a series of projects for people’s livelihood in various provinces across Zimbabwe. On August 29, upon invitation, Charge d’affaires Cui Chun paid a visit to Glen Forest Vocational Training Center in Harare Province and attended the handover ceremony of 54 sewing machines donated by the Chinese Embassy to the Center. On September 1, Charge d’affaires Cui investigated on the spot, the desiltation and renovation work of Denge Dam, a China-Africa People-to-People Friendship Action project, in Masvingo Province, and exchanged views with government officials, agricultural experts and local villagers on following-up of the project as well as future bilateral agricultural cooperation. On September 2, Charge d’affaires Cui attended handover ceremony of water pumps, school furniture and sports kits by the Chinese Embassy to Makoni West Constituency in Manicaland Province. Deputy Secretary of Youth Affairs of Zanu-PF and Makoni West Member of Parliament Hon. Chipanga, local officials, chiefs and over 500 other guests attended the function.

Charge d’affaires Cui said that China and Zimbabwe enjoy traditional friendship. China has spared no efforts in assisting Zimbabwe to improve people’s livelihood. The above projects are among the many that the Chinese Embassy has carried out in Zimbabwe, which aimed at promoting the development of Zimbabwe.

Representatives from the Zimbabwean side expressed appreciation to China’s long-term support for Zimbabwe. They said that the Chinese Embassy has been working effectively and pragmatically in order to support the nation-building and people’s livelihood-improving course of Zimbabwe. The Zimbabwean side is willing to take the opportunity of H.E. President Mugabe’s state visit to China to further strengthen the cooperation and friendship between the two countries.
