On December 24, the Women’s Group of the Chinese Embassy led by Madame Liao Yuancui, wife of the Chinese Ambassador Lin Lin, held a Christmas party with the parents and children from the Zimbabwe Parents of Handicapped Children Association, and donated over $3000 worth of wheel chairs, food, clothing and daily necessitiesto the association. Ambassador Lin Lin, all members of the Women’s Group of the Chinese Embassy and over 100 representatives of the ZPHCA attended the party.
Madame Liao delivered a speech with warm welcome and best wishes to the ZPHCA members. She said that children are our future.By supporting the children, China hopes to create a better future together with our Zimbabwean brothers and sisters. She said that bilateral relations in terms of high-level exchanges, political mutual trust, trade and investment cooperation as well as cultural and people-to-people exchanges have kept strong momentum in recent years. The embassy has carried out a series of livelihood projects in order for more Zimbabwean people at grass-root level to benefit from the good bilateral ties. She spoke highly of the contribution and sacrifice of the parents of handicapped children, and hoped that the donation would be a big Christmas present for the families.
On behalf of the ZPHCA, coordinator Theresa expressed her gratitude for the big donation as well as the constant assistance China has provided to Zimbabwe. She said that the donation was another demonstration of China’s support for the people of Zimbabwe. She promised that the association would make good use of the donation to improve the lives of the parents and children.
