Charge d'Affaires Cui Chun Attends Handover Ceremony of Rukururwi Primary School

On November 28, the handover ceremony of three classroom blocks of Rukururwi Primary School was held in Mt Darwin district,Mashonaland Central province. Over 400 people including the Charge d’Affaires of the Chinese embassy Mr. Cui Chun, Minister of Environment, Water and Climate Mr. Kasukuwere, Minister of State for Mashonaland Central Mr. Dinha, local officials, students, parents, teachers and representatives of the Chinese enterprises making donations attended the ceremony.

In his speech, Mr. Cui said that the event marks an important milestone in the efforts of both sides to ensure the sustainable development by enhancing the education sector. The Chinese government and the local Chinese community are always ready to assist Zimbabweans in times of needs. The Chinese side hopes that the China-Zimbabwe bilateral collaboration will continue to grow from strength to strength.

Mr. Kasukuwere expressed his gratitude for the continuous support by the Chinese government and business circle. He said that the newly built classrooms will substantially improve the condition of the school.

The Rukururwi Primary School in Mt Darwin was built in 2003 but was operating without classrooms ever since. The new 3blocks of classrooms were built at a cost of over $35,000 with the support from the Chinese Embassy and five Chinese enterprises in Zimbabwe. At the ceremony, the Chinese Federation of Zimbabwe also set up an annual scholarship of $5000 at the school.
