Ambassador Lin Lin Attends Handover Ceremony

On July 25, the handover ceremony for the water pumps donated by the Chinese Embassy was held in Zvimba region of the Mashonaland West Province. Ambassador Lin Lin, Mr. Cui Chun, Political Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy, Mr. Zhou Xuegong, Deputy Chairman of the Chinese Federation of Zimbabwe, Mr. Chidhakwa, Minister of Mines and Mining Development, executive officers of Zvimba, chiefs, Head of the Kutama College and over 50 other guests attended the ceremony.

Ambassador Lin announced that the Chinese Embassy donated 40 water pumps, along with footballs and other sports supplies to the local community, and the Chinese Federation of Zimbabwe set up a scholarship of $5,000 annually for a local primary school.

Ambassador Lin said that China and Zimbabwe enjoy traditional friendship. China has spared no efforts in assisting Zimbabwe to improve people’s livelihood. This donation project is one of many that the Chinese Embassy has carried out in Zimbabwe, which is aimed at promoting the development of the Zvimba region.

Mr. Chidhakwa expressed his appreciation for China’s long-term support for Zimbabwe. He said that the two countries are enjoying close cooperation in various sectors, and that the Chinese enterprises have made great contributions to the development of the agricultural and mining sectors. He believed that the donations will bring tangible benefits to the local people.

After the ceremony, Ambassador Lin was invited to visit the Kutama College.
