On May 5, Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe attended the handover ceremony of generators at the headquater of Zimbawbe Red Cross Society (ZRCS). The Minister of Primary & Secondary Education Mr. Dokora, the Permanent Secretary of Primary & Secondary Education, the Director of International Relations of the Ministry of Defence, the Vice President of the ZRCS, representatives from the International Red Cross, the beneficiaries and over 50 other guests attended the function when Ambassador Lin Lin handed over 24 generators to the representatives from 12 schools.
In his speech, Ambassador Lin said that China and Zimbabwe enjoy traditional friendship and that China has always supported Zimbabwe's efforts in developing education and health sectors, as well as improving people's livelihood. This donation is one of the many projects of the "China-Africa Friendship Action" under the framework of the "Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC)" carried out together with Zimbabwean NGOs. These generators are a symbol of China's support in the educational infrastructure construction of Zimbabwe. Later on, China will continue to cooperate with NGOs including the ZRCS to support Zimbabwe's livelihood projects. Ambassador Lin also expressed appreciation for the ZRCS's facilitation and assistance in carrying out this donation.
Minister Dokora expressed his gratitude to China's support in Zimbabwe's education sector. He hoped that the beneficiaries will make good use of the generators to create better conditions in the schools. The vice president of the ZRCS as well as representatives from the schools also spoke highly of China's donation and promised that the generators will be in good hands to benefit teachers and students.
