Q: The UN High Level Panel on Challenges, Opportunities and Change just submitted a report on UN Reform to the UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan. What comment do you have on this?

A: China supports the UN reform and the work of the High-Level Panel of Eminent Persons. We are studying with all seriousness the report just submitted to Secretary General Annan by the High Level Panel. We are also ready to stay in contact and consultation with all parties concerned, so as to promote positive progress in the UN reform.

China highly appreciates the work of Secretary General Annan and will continue to support his positive efforts to safeguard and strengthen the role of the UN.

Q: Recently, the media covered much about the corruption in the UN's Oil-for-Food Program. What comment does China have on this?

A: We hope the UN independent investigation panel on the Oil-for-Food Program will make clear at an early date whether any corruption exists in the implementation of the program through just, independent, objective and transparent investigation.
