On July 28, Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe Zhou Ding attended the launch of two China-FAO South-South Cooperation projects: "Capacity Development on Sustainable Soil Management in the Global South" and "National Water Roadmap towards 2030 Sustainable Development Goals in Zimbabwe". Also present were Permanent Secretary of Zimbabwe's Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development Obert Jiri and representatives from the FAO.
Ambassador Zhou noted that China actively supports relevant UN agencies in implementing livelihood projects in Zimbabwe. These two projects will significantly advance the transformation and modernization of Zimbabwe's agricultural sector and strengthen food security. China will make every effort to implement the 10 Partnership Action Plans and collaborate with international organizations including the FAO, with a view to supporting Zimbabwe's socio-economic development and promote South-South cooperation.
Senior officials from the Zimbabwean Government and FAO representatives expressed appreciation for China's long-term support for agricultural development in the Global South, pledging to earnestly implement the two projects to deliver tangible outcomes and support Zimbabwe in attaining the goals of its Rural Development 8.0 Initiative.
