Q: What is your comment on the Sino-US Expert Consultation on Non-Proliferation?

A: On 23 August, experts from China and the United States on the non-proliferation issue held consultations in Beijing, during which the two sides had a comprehensive and in-depth exchange of views on non-proliferation, outer space satellite launching co-operation and other issues. Necessary clarifications were made regarding each side's concern. The Chinese side stressed that the Chinese Government has all along adopted a serious and responsible attitude on the non-proliferation issue. The relevant policies have been carried out to the letters. China urged the US side to implement the policy it announced last November and take real measures to bring the cooperation between China and US on satellite launching back to the normal track at an early date.  China also stated her principled position on US arms sales to Taiwan. In short, we regard the consultation  beneficial and constructive.
