A:  The Sixth Summit of the heads of state of the "Shanghai Five" will be held in Shanghai from June 14 to 15.  It is going to be a grand gathering at the beginning of the new century on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the founding of the "Shanghai Five" mechanism, serving as a link between the past and the future.  During the Summit, the heads of state will engage in an extensive and in-depth exchange of views on the building and development direction of the "Shanghai Five" mechanism, next-phase cooperation among the "Shanghai Five" in security, economic and trade areas, and regional and international issues of common interest.  They will make major strategic policy decisions, sign a series of documents of major historical significance, moving the good-neighborly relations and cooperation among them to a new phase and new level.  China, as the host of the meeting, attaches great importance to the Summit and has done a lot of thorough preparation to make the meeting a success and achieve substantive results.  We are confident that with the joint efforts of all parties, the Summit will undoubtedly be crowned with success.
