Chinese Ambassador Zhou Ding Sees Off Vice President Chiwenga Bound for China

On 7 September, H.E. Ambassador Zhou Ding went to Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport to see off Hon. Gen. (Rtd) C. G. D. N. Chiwenga, Vice President of Zimbabwe, who was departing for a visit to China.

Ambassador Zhou noted that the Vice President was traveling to China upon invitation to attend the Global Trade in Services Summit, the Xiong’an Digital Trade Innovation and Development Conference, and to visit relevant cities, enterprises and institutions in China. Citing the visit as an epitome to the profound friendship and high-level political mutual trust between China and Zimbabwe, he expressed confidence that this visit would advance the implementation of the important consensus reached between President Xi Jinping and President Emmerson Mnangagwa, injecting fresh impetus into joint efforts to deepen bilateral trade and investment cooperation.

Expressing appreciation for China’s consistent, staunch support for Zimbabwe’s economic and social development, Hon. Vice President Chiwenga said that Zimbabwe stands ready to draw on China’s governance wisdom and the development model of Chinese modernisation. He looked forward to seeing the potential of bilateral economic cooperation further unlocked through this visit, attracting more Chinese investors to Zimbabwe with a view to attaining the objectives of Vision 2030.
