On 15 June 2026, Zhou Ding, Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe, held a meeting with Hon. Tatenda Mavetera, Minister of Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services of Zimbabwe. The two sides exchanged views on deepening bilateral cooperation in ICT and related sectors.

Noting that China-Zimbabwe practical cooperation across multiple sectors has borne fruitful outcomes guided by the consensus reached between the two Heads of State, Ambassador Zhou stated that the Phase II Project of the China-aided Zimbabwe High Performance Computing Centre stands as a new milestone for bilateral ICT cooperation. The Ambassador reaffirmed China’s readiness to further expand exchanges and collaboration with Zimbabwe in ICT, artificial intelligence and the digital economy, to bolster Zimbabwe’s digital transformation and socioeconomic advancement.
Minister Mavetera spoke highly of the progress registered in China-Zimbabwe ICT cooperation. She underscored that the Zimbabwean Government prioritizes the growth of its digital industry and looks forward to sustained Chinese support in digital infrastructure rollout, industrial digital transformation and professional talent training. Such collaborative efforts, she added, will accelerate Zimbabwe’s digital modernization drive and help the nation deliver on its national development targets enshrined in Vision 2030.
