On 22 June 2026, Ambassador Zhou Ding paid a courtesy call on Vice President of Zimbabwe, Hon. Gen. (Rtd) Dr. C. G. D. N. Chiwenga. The two sides held in-depth discussions on advancing pragmatic bilateral cooperation.

Noting that China-Zimbabwe cooperation has kept yielding fruitful outcomes, Ambassador Zhou reaffirmed China's readiness to work with Zimbabwe to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, expand and deepen collaboration in new energy, transport infrastructure, mineral deep processing, technological innovation and personnel training, so as to bring greater benefits to both countries and their peoples. He congratulated Zimbabwe on its election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the 2027–2028 term, and looked forward to closer coordination in multilateral affairs to jointly uphold international fairness and justice.

Vice President Chiwenga stated that the Zimbabwe-China friendship is rooted in mutual respect and mutual benefit and has stood the test of time and remained vibrant. Mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries has strongly boosted Zimbabwe’s economic and social development and improved people’s livelihoods. Zimbabwe is keen to draw on China’s development experience to fuel its industrialisation and modernisation drive.
