On 11 and 12 June 2026, Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe Zhou Ding visited Mutare Teachers' College and Bumba Primary School in Manicaland Province.

During the exchanges, Ambassador Zhou briefed school principals, faculty members, and student representatives on the latest progress of China-Zimbabwe relations and the fruitful outcomes of bilateral cooperation across various fields. He spoke highly of the China-aided borehole projects near the campuses, which have significantly improved local people’s livelihoods. Noting that 2026 has been designated as the China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges, he reaffirmed China's commitment to deepening educational cooperation with Zimbabwe, thereby contributing to the country's talent cultivation and modernization drive. The Ambassador donated books, sports equipment, and stationery to the two institutions, encouraging the students to study diligently, pursue sound growth, and play their part in carrying forward and consolidating the long-standing China-Zimbabwe friendship.

The Zimbabwean hosts warmly welcomed Ambassador Zhou and provided a detailed overview of the daily operations of the two institutions. They expressed sincere gratitude for China's sustained support for Zimbabwe's educational sector, noting that the Chinese-funded borehole projects have brought tremendous convenience to local teachers and students. They further voiced their readiness to leverage educational exchanges as a bridge to cement and deepen the time-honored friendship between the two nations.
