On 24 March 2026, Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe Zhou Ding met with Tatenda Mavetera, Zimbabwe’s Minister of Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services. The two sides exchanged views on deepening bilateral cooperation in ICT and artificial intelligence.

Congratulating Zimbabwe on the recent launch of its National AI Strategy (2026–2030), Ambassador Zhou noted that as AI continues to reshape economies and societies, China stands ready to support Zimbabwe in advancing digital transformation and the upgrading of key industries, and to promote the application of AI for tangible benefits to the Zimbabwean people.

Minister Mavetera expressed appreciation for China’s longstanding support in ICT and digital technologies, stating Zimbabwe’s readiness to further strengthen cooperation with China in digital infrastructure development, talent training and other areas.
