In Harare, Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe Zhou Ding met with Hon. Chief Fortune Z. Charumbira, President of the Pan-African Parliament and Deputy President of the Council of Chiefs of Zimbabwe on 11 December 2025. The two sides held in-depth exchanges of views on China-Africa and China-Zimbabwe relations, as well as bilateral and multilateral exchanges and cooperation.

Ambassador Zhou noted that China-Africa relations are currently at their best in history, with cooperation across various fields maintaining strong momentum and delivering tangible benefits to the peoples of both China and Africa. He emphasized that exchanges and cooperation between legislative bodies constitute an important part of China-Africa cooperation. China stands ready to strengthen exchanges with the Pan-African Parliament and play a constructive role in advancing China-Zimbabwe and China-Africa relations. He added that China is willing to enhance exchanges with Zimbabwe’s traditional leaders, deepen local-level cooperation, and support Zimbabwe’s socioeconomic development.

Chief Charumbira expressed appreciation for China’s long-term support for the development of Africa and Zimbabwe, and spoke highly of China’s four Global Initiatives. He reaffirmed the Pan-African Parliament’s firm adherence to the one-China principle and its readiness to deepen exchanges with China’s National People’s Congress (NPC) and the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC). He also expressed hope for strengthened cooperation with China in protecting traditional culture and promoting community and rural development.
