On November 21, Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe Zhou Ding addressed the 2025 Zimbabwe Mining Media Awards Ceremony. Also present were Hon. Caleb Makwiranzou, Zimbabwe’s Deputy Minister of Mines and Mining Development, officials from the Ministry of Information, and representatives of media outlets and mining enterprises.

By citing numbers and examples, Ambassador Zhou elaborated on the positive role of China-Zimbabwe mining cooperation in Zimbabwe's employment, tax collection, talent cultivation, infrastructure construction, community development, as well as industrial and supply chain layout, and refuted false statements against Chinese mining enterprises. At the same time, Ambassador Zhou encouraged Zimbabwean journalists to uphold their conscience and responsibility, convey the truth, build consensus, and contribute to optimizing the investment environment in Zimbabwe and promoting the long-term healthy development of China-Zimbabwe cooperation.

The representatives attending the event expressed their gratitude for the contributions made by Chinese mining enterprises to the economic and social development of the country, as well as for the support provided by the Chinese Embassy in Zimbabwe in the fields of mining and media. They called for jointly creating a professional, inclusive, balanced and truth-based media environment, which would help promote the development of the mining industry, economic transformation and improvement of people's livelihood in Zimbabwe.
