On October 23, Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe Zhou Ding was invited to address the 2025 National Journalism and Media Awards (NJAMA). Also present were Zimbabwe's Minister of Information, Hon. Jenfan Muswere, representatives from the government, parliament and media, as well as members of the diplomatic corps in Zimbabwe.

Ambassador Zhou extended congratulations to the event organizers and award winners, emphasizing that a fair and prosperous society hinges on journalistic integrity. As we navigate this digital era, the need for credible journalism has never been more critical—journalism that informs, not inflames, champions truth over prejudice, and fosters partnership over division. He encouraged media practitioners to uphold professional ethics, journalistic integrity, objectivity, and rationality in their work.

Ambassador Zhou also expounded on China's people-centered development philosophy, its foreign policies toward Zimbabwe and Africa, and the fruitful China-Zimbabwe cooperation across various fields. He specifically refuted unsubstantiated accusations such as "neocolonialism", "debt trap" and toxic narratives targeting China and Chinese companies, while reaffirming the Chinese Embassy’s readiness to facilitate media cooperation between China and Zimbabwe.

Minister Muswere spoke highly of the all-weather strategic partnership between Zimbabwe and China, and expressed appreciation for China's contributions to Zimbabwe's socio-economic development and livelihood improvement. He called on the media to faithfully fulfill their duties and truly serve as loyal chroniclers and constructive partners in the country's development process.
