From October 16 to 17, Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe Zhou Ding visited Manicaland Province. During his visit, he met with Hon. Mish Mugadza, Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Manicaland, inspected an automobile assembly plant jointly operated by BAIC Foton and QUEST Motor Manufacturing, and visited Mutare Polytechnic, among other activities.

Ambassador Zhou highlighted that Manicaland Province is rich in resources and has vast fertile land, with broad and in-depth cooperation with China. The export of agricultural products such as tobacco and macadamia nuts to China has created employment and tax revenue for the local area. The localized operations of Chinese-funded enterprises like BAIC Foton have contributed to extension of Zimbabwe’s industrial and value chains. Cooperation between Mutare Polytechnic and Chinese universities in talent development and academic exchanges has yielded notable results. China is ready to work with Zimbabwe to implement the important consensus reached by the presidents of the two countries, and to promote further solid progress in building an All-weather China-Zimbabwe community with a Shared Future, so as to deliver more benefits to the peoples of both countries.

Hon. Mugadza thanked China for its long-term contribution to the economic and social development of Manicaland Province and expressed hope for further deepening cooperation with China in areas such as agricultural trade, tourism, education, and science and technology, in order to bring more benefits to the local people.
