On December 23, Chinese Ambassador Lin Lin paid a visit to Mutoko North Constituency, and donated 40 water pumps, 100 sets of school desks and chairs and some soccer balls to the local community on behalf of the Chinese Embassy. Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Hon. M. Chinomona as well as provincial officials and over 700 local residents attended the handover ceremony.

In his speech, Ambassador Lin said that China and Zimbabwe enjoy traditional friendship. At present, as the Zimbabwean government is giving priority to the development of agriculture and education sectors, the Chinese side tries its best to give support and assistance in the above-mentioned areas in order for more Zimbabwean people at grass-root level to benefit from the sound bilateral ties. He hoped that the donation will help the local community to improve their education and living standards.

Deputy Speaker Chinomona said that Zimbabwe and China are all-weather friends. Both in Zimbabwe’s struggles for independence and its national construction after independence, China has always given Zimbabwe firm support and generous assistance. This time, Mutoko North Constituency is fortunate enough to receive donations from the Chinese Embassy, and will make full use of the donations to carry out education and irrigation work and bring tangible benefits to the local people.
