On 2 March 2026, Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe Zhou Ding met with Zimbabwean Minister of Mines and Mining Development Hon. Dr. Polite Kambamura. They exchanged views on deepening China-Zimbabwe mining cooperation and the latest policy developments in the sector.

Noting that China and Zimbabwe enjoy longstanding friendship, with bilateral mining cooperation maintaining a strong momentum, Ambassador Zhou highlighted that Chinese mining enterprises have played an active role in supporting Zimbabwe’s economic and social development by creating quality jobs, contributing tax revenue, and investing in value-added activities and downstream processing industries. China welcomes and supports Zimbabwe’s ongoing efforts to foster a better business environment for foreign investors, including Chinese companies, protect their legitimate rights and interests, pursue mutual benefit and win-win results, so as to promote the long-term, sound and steady development of China-Zimbabwe mining cooperation.
Minister Kambamura highly commended Chinese enterprises for their positive contributions to unlocking Zimbabwe’s resource potential, particularly through investment in value addition, job creation and industrialisation. He reaffirmed Zimbabwe’s readiness to further deepen cooperation with China in the mining sector, and encouraged Chinese companies operating in Zimbabwe to continue conducting business in compliance with laws and regulations while actively participating in mineral beneficiation and local processing.
Both the Ambassador and the Minister reiterated their commitment to advancing sustainable mining cooperation for greater benefits to the two peoples.
