On January 30, Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe Zhou Ding met with a delegation led by Bishop Dr. Ignatius Makumbe, President of the Zimbabwe Council of Churches (ZCC). They exchanged views on deepening China-Zimbabwe people-to-people and cultural exchanges and advancing local community development in Zimbabwe.

Ambassador Zhou briefed the ZCC delegation on the recent outcomes of China-Zimbabwe exchanges and cooperation across various fields. He stressed that the profound traditional friendship between the two countries is constantly being translated into tangible results of practical cooperation. Chinese enterprises in Zimbabwe continue to make important contributions to the country’s industrial and supply chain development, job creation and tax revenue generation, while earnestly fulfilling their social responsibilities to support local communities. China is a reliable partner for Zimbabwe’s development and revitalization, and the Chinese Embassy stands ready to strengthen communication and exchanges with Zimbabwean civil society organizations to advance bilateral cooperation and deliver greater benefits to the grassroots people of Zimbabwe.

Bishop Makumbe thanked Ambassador Zhou for the briefing and spoke highly of the robust and fruitful China-Zimbabwe cooperation , as well as valuable contributions made by Chinese enterprises in Zimbabwe to the country’s economic and social development. He added that the ZCC is ready to serve as a bridge and link to facilitate the harmonious coexistence of Chinese enterprises and local communities, with a view to further deepening the friendship between the two peoples and improving the well-being of the Zimbabwean people.
