Spokesperson on the settlement of " the Hanoaka incident" (30/11/2000)
2004-08-16 18:33

Q: The Chinese laborers related to “ the Hanoaka incident” have reached settlement yesterday with a Japanese company through negotiations. What is the comment of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs?

A: Forced labor is one of the serious crimes committed by the Japanese militarism against the Chinese people in its war of aggression against China. “The Hanoaka incident” is a case in point. We have all along asked the Japanese side to seriously approach and properly handle the question left over from history. We have learned that the Kajima Corp. of Japan that enslaved the laborers has admitted the historical fact and expressed deep apology to the surviving laborers and the families of the victims.
