On October 31, Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe Zhou Ding met with Hon. Monica Mavhunga, Zimbabwe’s Minister of Veterans of Liberation Struggle. Deputy Minister Headman Moyo and Permanent Secretary Albert Chikondo were also in attendance. 

Ambassador Zhou provided an overview of China’s veteran affairs work and exchanged views with Minister Mavhunga on ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in this field. He noted that the recently concluded Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) had outlined a top-level blueprint for China’s economic and social development over the next five years—sending a positive signal that China is ready to continue sharing development opportunities with other countries. Highlighting that China-Zimbabwe relations have been elevated to an all-weather community with a shared future, the Ambassador reaffirmed China’s readiness to work with Zimbabwe to implement the important consensus reached by the two countries’ heads of state, further advance their traditional friendship, and expand mutually beneficial cooperation. 

Minister Mavhunga congratulated China on its remarkable development achievements and expressed appreciation for China’s long-standing selfless assistance and comprehensive support to Zimbabwe. She stated that her Ministry is ready to enhance exchanges and cooperation with China in veteran affairs and other fields, and to draw on China’s development experience to help Zimbabwe achieve its Vision 2030.
