On 27 May, Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe Zhou Ding met with Zimbabwean Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Amon Murwira. The two sides engaged in-depth discussions on deepening China-Zimbabwe relations and expanding pragmatic cooperation.

Ambassador Zhou noted that this year marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Zimbabwe, and both sides are actively implementing the important consensus reached by the two heads of State during President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s state visit to China last year and jointly advancing the follow-up actions of the Being Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. He wished the Minister a fruitful trip to China, hoping it would inject fresh impetus into the development of the China-Zimbabwe Comprehensive Strategic Partnership of Cooperation.

Expressing his delight at attending events in China in his capacity as Foreign Minister for the first time, Minister Murwira emphasized that Zimbabwe and China are good friends and partners who trust and support each other, and the evergrowing Chinese investments in Zimbabwe and the record-high bilateral trade volume are encouraging. Highlighting the immense potential for cooperation between Zimbabwe and China, Minister Murwira articulated Zimbabwe's readiness to work with China to achieve more mutually rewarding outcomes that will benefit the two peoples.
