On April 14th, a delegation from Jiangsu Province of China, led by Mr. Ma Xin, Member of the Standing Committee of CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and Executive Vice Governor of Jiangsu Province, visited Zimbabwe and paid a courtesy call on H.E. Emmerson Mnangagwa, President of the Republic of Zimbabwe. Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the Chinese Embassy in Zimbabwe Cheng Yan was present.
Ma Xin emphasized that as a leading province in economic development and opening-up, Jiangsu Province is willing to take the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Zimbabwe as an opportunity to work with Zimbabwe to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state and the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), by enhancing cooperation in infrastructure, biomedicine, new energy, people-to-people exchanges and other areas to bring mutual benefits and win-win results.
President Mnangagwa spoke highly of the bilateral relations and appreciated the long-standing valuable support provided by China to Zimbabwe. He reiterated that Zimbabwe firmly adheres to the one-China policy and is committed to developing cordial relations with China. He looked forward to further cooperation between Jiangsu Province and relevant authorities of Zimbabwe.
During the visit, Ma Xin met with Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development Joshua Sacco, attended the launching ceremony of “Water for Livelihood” Zimbabwe Borehole Project with officials from the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, and witnessed the signing of cooperation documents between Chinese enterprises and their Zimbabwean partners.
