Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the Chinese Embassy in Zimbabwe Cheng Yan Attends Reception Commemorating 40th Anniversary of China Medical Teams’ Presence in Zimbabwe

On March 6, the Chinese Embassy in Zimbabwe held a commemorative reception and medal-awarding ceremony to mark the 40th anniversary of China medical teams’ presence in Zimbabwe. Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy Cheng Yan and Deputy Minister of Health and Child Care of Zimbabwe Sleiman Kwidini attended and addressed the event. Officials from the Zimbabwean Ministry of Health and Child Care, staff of local hospitals, members of the 21st and 22nd China Medical Teams, as well as representatives from the Chinese enterprises and Chinese community in Zimbabwe were also present.

Cheng Yan stated that over the past four decades, all members of the China Medical Teams dispatched to Zimbabwe upheld the spirit of the China Medical Team with their unremitting efforts and made significant contributions to deepening China-Zimbabwe friendship. China is willing to collaborate with Zimbabwe to implement the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and further promote bilateral cooperation in health sector to jointly build a high-level Global Community of Health for All.

On behalf of the Government of Zimbabwe, Deputy Minister Kwidini presented medals to the members of the outgoing 21st China Medical Team. He expressed gratitude to China for its continuous dispatch of medical teams to Zimbabwe, commending the medical teams for their outstanding contributions in treating ailments of Zimbabwean people and improving Zimbabwe's medical services. He also expressed his anticipation for further strengthening cooperation in health and medical sector between the two nations.
