Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe Zhou Ding Accompanies Zimbabwean President to attend the Launch Ceremony of Zimbabwe's Digital Truck Project

On 19 February, Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe Zhou Ding accompanied Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa at the launch ceremony of the Digital Truck Project supported by Huawei and delivered their respective speeches. Zimbabwean Minister of Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services, Minister of Skills Audit and Development, Minister of State for Harare Province, and various representatives from different sectors were also in attendance.

Ambassador Zhou commended the project for playing a vital role in providing digital skills training to remote rural areas of Zimbabwe, which thus would contribute to the country's sustainable development. He emphasized that China has advocated active international cooperation and assistance in the process of artificial intelligence development and governance, with a view to ensuring that no country is left behind. Over the past 45 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Zimbabwe, the two countries have achieved fruitful results in their cooperation. China will continue to strengthen cooperation with Zimbabwe in various fields, including digital and information technologies, and further deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership of Cooperation between the two nations.

President Mnangagwa stated that digital transformation would help Zimbabwe achieve its Vision 2030. Expressing gratitude for China's long-standing and selfless assistance, he highly lauded the significant role that the bilateral cooperation had played in promoting Zimbabwe's socio-economic development.
