On August 19th, Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe Zhou Ding launched the “Hope Harbour” Project in Chitungwiza City. Mr. Elias Murinda, Chief Director of the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training, the Junior Mayor of Chitungwiza City, representative from the Teen Rescue Mission and other civil societies in Zimbabwe and more than 150 local youths participated in the event.
Ambassador Zhou stated at the ceremony that the Chinese Embassy had launched a series of charitable initiatives in order to assist youth in the community to acquire practical skills, explore careers and stay away from drug and substance abuse. He encouraged Zimbabwean youths to shoulder their historic mission and make greater contributions to their country and communities. The Chinese Embassy will continue to work with all stakeholders to support the youth causes in Zimbabwe.
Officials and guests from the Zimbabwean side expressed their heartfelt thanks to the Chinese Embassy for its assistance. Some Youth music and dance groups presented cheerful performances. The China Medical Team conducted free health checks for the youths in the community.
