On September 10, the Zimpapers Group hosted a breakfast meeting under the theme “Historic Sino-Zim Agreements —What's Next?” after President Mugabe’sState Visit to China. Minister of Finance Hon. Patrick Chinamasa, Minister of Media, Information and Broadcasting Services Hon. Jonathan Moyo, Secretary for Information and Publicity of Zanu-PF Hon. Rugare Gumbo,Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Hon. Christopher Mutsvangwa, Mayor of Harare City Mr. Bernard Manyenyeniattended the meeting, together with about 300 guests including senators, MPs, diplomats andbusinessmen.

Minister Chinamasa delivered a keynote speech. He said that President Mugabe’s recent State Visit to China was successful and fruitful, during whichthe Chinese side made commitments to provide financial support for viable projects in Zimbabwe. He urged participants of the meeting to make full use of this opportunity,and actively engage and cooperate with the Chinese side. He emphasized that Zimbabwe and Chinashouldtake advantage oftheir tight political ties to further develop bilateral relations.

Ambassador Lin Lin was invited to address the meeting. He said that during President Mugabe’svisit to China, the two heads of state reached important consensus, and pointed out the directionsfor the further development of Sino-Zimbabwe relations. China is ready to work with Zimbabwe to carry forward the traditional friendship and strengthen bilateral cooperation in various fields. The two countries will maintaingood friends, good partners and good brothers of equality, mutual support, mutual benefit and common development.
