"Night of Beijing" fascinates Zimbabwe

On the evening of July 16, the "Night of Beijing" performances co-hosted by the People's Government of Beijing Municipality and the Embassy of China in Zimbabwe were held at the Celebration Center in Harare. Scores of Zimbabwean celebrities, including the President of the Senate Cde Madzongwe, ZANU-PF leaders, cabinet ministers, the visiting CPC Delegation led by Cde. Guo Jinlong, Member of the Politburo of CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, Chinese Ambassador Lin Lin, as well as over 3,000 local Chinese and Zimbabwe people watched the show.

More than 100 artists from China National Acrobatic Troupe, Beijing Dance, Drama & Opera Company, Beijing Opera Theatre and the Central Conservatory of Music amazed the audience with their marvelous performances with oriental beauty. The four acrobatic performances, which had all won many international prizes, fascinated everyone with masterful acts.

The classic Zimbabwean local song "RuvaRangu"played by the famous Chinese musician with the traditional Chinese musical instrument of Pipa, and the Chinese songs performed by students from the Zimbabwe College of Music choir and the Confucius Institute of Zimbabwean University also won the audience's applause.

This show was performed by the largest Chinese art troupe that had ever come to Zimbabwe. A total worth of $20,000 of ticket revenue will be donated to the flood-stricken Tokwe-Makosi area and an orphanage.

Before the show, the audience appreciated the over 80 photos of "Charming Beijing" in the Jubilee Hall of Celebration Center.
