On December 25, 2008, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Qin Gang held a regular press conference and answered the following question.

Qin Gang: Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. I’m happy to take your questions.

Q: Former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto was assassinated in a terrorist attack on December 27, last year. The day after tomorrow will be the first anniversary of her passing away. Given that Mrs. Bhutto, her father and their party have played an important role in deepening China-Pakistan relations, what message would you like to send on this occasion?

A: Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto have made major contributions to the good neighborliness and friendly relations of cooperation between China and Pakistan. The Chinese Government and people will always keep this in mind. We have voiced strong condemnation to the terrorist attack that killed Mrs. Benazir Bhutto last year. Pakistan is an important neighbor of China. We hope to see Pakistan enjoy political stability, social harmony and economic growth. The Chinese Government and people cherish the traditional friendship with Pakistan, and are ready to work with Pakistan to further promote the two countries' friendly relations of cooperation.

If there are no more questions, thank you for your attendance!
