Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Liu Jianchao's Remarks on the 2007 Annual Report of the US Congressional-Executive Commission on China
2007-10-19 00:00

Q: The US Congressional-Executive Commission on China released its 2007 annual report lately. Does China have any comment?

A: The annual report issued by the so-called US Congressional-Executive Commission on China turned a blind eye to the progress and achievements made by China in human rights and legal system building, distorted the facts and made unreasonable accusation against China's social and judicial system, family planning policy, ethnic and religious policy and human rights situation. We have made solemn representation against the US, expressing strong dissatisfaction and resolute opposition to the gross intervention in China's internal affairs.

We advise that the US Congress and relevant agencies take more time to reflect on their own problems, stop issuing reports of this kind and interfering in China's internal affairs. We urge the US government take the solemn position of China seriously and make concrete efforts to eradicate the bad impact of the report.
