On August 7, Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe Zhou Ding and Hon. Mercy Dinha, Deputy Minister of Public Service, Labor, and Social Welfare of Zimbabwe attended and addressed the handover ceremony of China's food assistance to Zimbabwe. Permanent Secretary of Social Welfare Simon Masanga and other attendees joined the event.
Ambassador Zhou noted that China's provision of 3,000 tons of rice and wheat to Zimbabwe fully demonstrated the traditional friendship of mutual support between the two countries. He expressed hopes for the food assistance to reach grassroots level and vulnerable groups in Zimbabwe, contributing to emergency relief efforts. He stressed China’s commitment to implementing the Ten Partnership Actions for China-Africa cooperation and deepening cooperation with Zimbabwe in areas such as agriculture and improving people's livelihoods.
On behalf of the Zimbabwean government, Deputy Minister Dinha extended sincere gratitude to China for its continued selfless assistance to Zimbabwe, and underscored that the food assistance would play a significant role in improving people's livelihoods and uplifting vulnerable groups. Zimbabwe looks forward to enhancing practical cooperation with China in various sectors and continuing the traditional friendship between the two countries.
