2026-04-30 19:25

On 27 April 2026, Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe Zhou Ding paid a courtesy call on Zhemu Soda, Zimbabwean  Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services. The two sides exchanged views on deepening bilateral cooperation in media, publicity and communications.

Ambassador Zhou noted that, guided by the strategic consensus of the two heads of state, China-Zimbabwe relations have maintained sound momentum and yielded fruitful results in practical cooperation across various fields. The two sides have signed multiple memoranda of understanding in the media sector, making remarkable progress in content sharing, personnel training and other programs. China stands ready to further deepen media exchanges and cooperation with Zimbabwe, vividly tell the story of China-Zimbabwe friendship, and foster a sound public opinion environment for building an all-weather China-Zimbabwe community with a shared future.

Minister Soda thanked China for its support to Zimbabwe in information, publicity and media capacity building. He stated that Zimbabwe is ready to learn from China’s experience in media digital transformation, technological upgrading and content innovation, and work closely with China to combat disinformation and misinformation, with a view to boosting Zimbabwe’s economic and social development and advancing win-win cooperation between the two countries.

Following the meeting, the Ambassador and the Minister gave a joint interview to local media including the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC).
